What the scanner checks
Three visits to your website at the same time — these are the questions each one tries to answer.
Visit 1:Before consent
Does tracking start before a visitor chooses?
Visit 2:After Accept
Do supported services receive the visitor’s consent choice?
Visit 3:After Reject
Does tracking continue after a visitor says no?
The report shows which pages and checks were completed, including anything we could not test. What the scan covers
Why test your cookie banner?
Other companies are watching your visitors
Almost every website loads code from Google, Meta or TikTok. That code can follow the people who visit you — what they looked at, what they bought, how they found you.
You cannot see it by looking at your own site
It happens in the background, between the browser and those companies. Nothing on the page tells you it went wrong.
What do you get for FREE
- A plain-language list of what is actually wrong, with the services named.
- Where each thing happened — before a choice, after Accept, or after Reject.
- What to change, for the cookie tool your site already uses.
- One button that copies the whole thing for your developer.
Cookie scanner FAQ
A cookie scanner, also called a cookie checker, identifies cookies stored when a website is visited. Our scanner also checks supported tracking services before a consent choice, after Accept and after Reject.
Put your address in the box above and press “Scan website”. About a minute later you get a report: the cookies stored on the pages we opened, the companies that received data, and what changed after “Accept” and after “Reject”. You can copy the findings for your developer, or share the report with a link.
Cookies stored on the pages we open, and the tracking services we support — Google Analytics, Google Ads, Meta, TikTok, LinkedIn and Microsoft Ads — in three states: before a consent choice, after “Accept” and after “Reject”. It also checks whether your analytics and ads count correctly, and whether search engines and visitors can reach your site. Every check we could not complete is listed in the report.
It is free, and there is no signup or email.
No. The scanner checks the starting page and attempts to open one additional page during each consent scenario. Your report shows the pages visited and any checks that could not be completed.
The tracking requests we recognise — page views, events and conversions for Google, Meta, TikTok, LinkedIn, Microsoft and many other tracking companies — are intercepted and answered with a fake “OK”, so they do not reach your reports. Script files still download, as they would for any visitor. We cannot intercept tracking we do not recognise, or anything your server sends on its own. We never fill in forms, add to cart or log in.
Anyone you give the link to. We never list or publish reports. The link works for 30 days.
We check the part the GDPR and the ePrivacy rules put in the browser, and it is the part most websites get wrong: whether tracking waits for a choice, whether “Reject” is respected, and which cookies are stored — on the pages we open. It is not a full compliance audit: it cannot see pages we did not open, tracking we do not recognise, or what your server sends on its own, and it says nothing about your privacy policy or your contracts. For a legal answer, take the report to a lawyer or a data-protection adviser.
