Free website SEO scanner

How a scan works

One robot, one website, no browser: it reads the HTML your server sends, exactly as a search engine's crawler does.

Scan your website

What does this website SEO scanner check?

Fifteen checks. Each is worth 1, 3 or 5 marks. A check with nothing to judge is left out of the sum — never counted as a pass.

  • Can search engines find and index my pages?

    • Pages can be found and indexed5 marks
    • The sitemap matches the site3 marks
    • Canonical tags agree with the page3 marks
  • Do my links lead somewhere?

    • Internal links go somewhere5 marks
    • Links point at the final address3 marks
    • Outgoing links still work1 mark
  • Does every page say what it is?

    • Every page has a title5 marks
    • Every page has a description3 marks
    • Every page has one main heading3 marks
    • Images have alt text3 marks
  • Is anything repeated, too long or out of order?

    • Titles are not repeated3 marks
    • Descriptions are not repeated1 mark
    • Titles are a usable length1 mark
    • Descriptions are a usable length1 mark
    • Heading levels run in order1 mark
  • And every finding carries how serious it is

    • Criticalpages cannot be found, cannot be indexed, or lead nowhere
    • Warningsworth fixing; it costs something today
    • Suggestionsan improvement, not an error

A finding marked Probably on purpose is something owners usually set deliberately — a shop keeping its filter pages out of search, for example. It is a list to confirm, not a fault.

What the report looks like

A real scan of a real website. To keep it anonymous we changed its name and its page addresses and left out the words quoted from its pages — every count, finding and sentence of the scanner is as it came out.

Score 83 out of 100

This score is how the site did against the checks listed on this page. It is not Google’s rating of your website — no such number exists, and we cannot see what Google sees.

score = 100 × marks earned ÷ marks possible — the report shows every row, its weight and its marks.

Fixed something? Each website can be scanned again the next day — the report link works for 30 days.

What it cannot tell you

The name promises more than any tool can do from outside. So, plainly:

  • We do not see what Google sees. We read what your server sends our robot, from outside, today.

  • No ranking positions — we cannot tell you where you appear for any search.

  • No keyword volumes and no keyword suggestions. That needs data we do not buy.

  • No backlinks and no competitor comparison, for the same reason.

  • No page-speed score: we read the HTML and do not download images, fonts or scripts.

  • We do not judge whether the writing is any good — only whether the parts a search engine reads are there and agree with each other.

The limits of a free scan

  • 200pages at most
  • 4minutes at most
  • 120outgoing links checked
  • 1scan a day per website

We obey your robots.txt.

Anything you block, we do not read. If it asks for a gap between requests (Crawl-delay) we keep it — which means fewer pages in the four minutes, and the report says so.

No browser, no clicks.

We read the HTML your server sends. We never fill in forms, add to cart or log in.

A free scan reads up to 200 pages and stops after 4 minutes, whichever comes first. The coverage line says what was actually reached.

Our robot says who it is on every request: thereisnoagency-bot (+https://thereisnoagency.com/bot/) — about our robot
